bed? What do they do, what is your bed size, 2 people in bed or 1. There are 2 of us in a queen.

It doesn’t matter how big the dog, or how big the bed. The dog will hog the bed if he can.

No pets in the bed for me. The bed is my domain.

We have a queen bed, my husband and I both sleep in. We USED to have our American Pit Bull and little mutt try to sleep with us. Now they are trained to sleep in their bed in the floor. It makes for a much nicer night’s sleep and we all have our own little space.

What have you been feeding him to get a 20lb yorkie?!?

Sorry… My dogs sleep in their crate. My bed is mine, their bed is theirs.

what you need to do is put him somewhere you want him to sleep and if he doesn’t stay within that area do it again and after a few trys put him on the ground for a few minutes or pet him for a few minutes. then put him back if you still have trouble then you need to leave him on the floor for a night and try again the next day.

My 3 lb Pomeranian puppy sleeps in his own bed in his puppy pen, but my old cat sleeps with me on my queen size bed (it’s a circular bed)

She likes to sleep at my feet on the bed, but sometimes she’ll sleep on top of the covers and I have to pull it out from under her when I’m cold lol.

I start out the night with me in my bed (full), my 2 year old daughter in her bed (toddler bed), and the cat in her cat bed. During the night the cat gets in bed with my daughter, my daughter gets in bed with me, and then the cat gets in bed with me and my daughter. I wake up during the night to find my daughter and the cat all stretched out, and me sleeping on the very edge of the bed. I get up and put everyone back in their own beds, but they usually repeat this a few times each night. Sigh… I miss having a nice uninterrupted night of sleep.

My Wife and I share a Queen Size bed. During the night three of our cats will get on the bed to sleep but for some reason they only sleep on my Wife’s side of the bed so it really doesn’t bother me.

Your yorkie is 20LBS???!!! What the heck? If he’s a purebred yorkie, he’s about 8 pounds overweight!

anyways, yes my dog sleeps on the foot of my bed. Or the couch. We feed him good food, so he sheds minimally and doesn’t leave hair everywhere.

I don’t have this problem because my pets are not allowed to sleep in my bed.

I have a 25 lb boston terrier/shiz-tu and a 10lb jack russel, both sleep with me and my boyfriend on a king size bed.the boston sleeps under my blanket at my feet and the jack sleeps in the middle of us on her own pillow.i have 3 other dogs that sleep in their crates at night. when we want alone time we just put them in their crates or in the living room.I have owned my boston mix for almost 9 years and he has always slept with me and i miss him if he s not there and it hard for me to sleep. He is my shadow and follows me from room to room,he even sit at the bathroom door when i’m in there or comes in if i’m in the shower and waits on the rug.

I have a 75 lb Golden Retriever who I let sleep on *my* bed when I *allow* him to. There was a period where he began thinking it was *his* bed. I reassured him that is not by just pulling him off (gently, of course, but enough to make him move) or pushing him off. Sure he would growl and try to bite me, but I set myself up as his leader over time by practicing such exercises as this. Now, he doesn’t go up without looking at me first as if to say, “Can I get on the bed?” Sometimes I give him a nod or a “sure” (it’s all about communication;) and let him jump up. Other times I don’t to remind him that it is my bed, even if he asks. Rarely he jumps up without asking me (by looking at me then the bed as he stands in front of it), but when he does I have him get ‘off’ immediately and won’t allow him up for the rest of the night. He’s very good about that.

So my suggestion is to show your dog that you are his leader by telling him when he can and cannot go up on the bed. You paid for your bed, not him. Now you have to *own it*.

**Oh, and he doesn’t bite or growl anymore. He’s learned who his pack leader is. (just b/c he was a Golden, does not mean he always had the ideal temperament of one)

    Good luck to you!

(and please, please put your dog on a reduced calorie diet)

Small dogs have an amazing ability to somehow take up WAY more space than they need! I don’t sleep with my dog, but on occasions that I used to he would do the same thing. My advice is not to let your dog sleep in the bed. Mine sleeps in a crate next to the bed, and she is perfectly comfy and cozy in there.
