My dog sleeps in her kennel at night. I buy dog beds for her to sleep on and everytime I do that she tears it up in there. I wake up only to find her bed in shreds inside her kennel. But when she sleeps in there for a nap during the day nothing happens. It's cold now and she still chews up her bed and I feel so bad because she's probably cold, but not matter how many beds I get her the same thing happens. What can I do so that she doesn't chew up her bed when she sleeps at night?

Well, let me see. Maybe just give her a blanket of some sort that she doesn't have to tear up. All dogs usually scratch and dig to make a place to sleep. So, don't buy another bed, Put blankets in or even soft large towels that are easily washed when they get dirty. I use any old blankets or rugs or towels for my dog. He likes to scratch. But then he sleeps with me at night so he has it made. He still scratches before he lays down. It could be that she is bored from the long night and does this because she has nothing to keep her busy. Give her a rawhide chew at night to keep her busy. Good luck.

She is probably acting out because she is pent up all night. Putting hot sauce on items is recommended to stop chewing. Maybe if you do this and place an old blanket you don't care about on top of the bed she'll just chew the blanket.

First of all if it's a pup……….that is their job……….chew everything up….!!!!! Your job is to retrain her way of thinking……This is what I did. I got an old leather short top boot. Everytime the dog started to chew things up….I got the boot out and told the dog "That's Mine" then handed him the boot. It got so he quit chewing "mine" and everywhere that he went, the boot was sure to go.
To bed, bye bye, the vet and even the kennel. I don't know if Caesar Milan would do it that way, but it worked for me.

Spray the bed with Bitter Yuck. If it tastes bad enough, she won't chew it. Give her a nice chew toy.
If she's in the house, though, she's probably not cold unless she's a tropical breed.
They do make beds advertised as indestructible. They are expensive, but maybe worth it.
