My Pyr does the same thing. I stopped buying beds, he likes the floor just fine:)
I would like the plans to make the bed on my own. I am a novice woodworker. Thanks
Why can't you just use a people's Murphy bed plan and scale it down. It shouldn't be that hard to do. Just make sure you give your dog room to stretch out ..
If you figure it out let us know!!
All of them at wal-mart and pet-co are cheap. I want a good sturdy material that will be easy to wipe down like microfiber or leather.
Believe it or not, Tractor Supply has some great dog beds at a reasonable price.
I'd like ones with sides. And my dog is a Border Collie, so she's going to be on the larger side.
wait…what's ur question
by this i meant wicker, plastic, wood etc etc etc
goos to see there are some jokers playing on here today…………
might sound silly but, we took our newly adopted mini-schnauzer mix Fancy to the pet store with us and my hunny started pulling beds off the shelf onto the floor for her to try out and all of a sudden she disappeared, we looked around calling her name and she had climbed up on a shelf and had stretched out on a huge pillow that would have been big enough for a rottweiler… go figure…. but it's what she wanted!
My 8 year old boxer had to be put to sleep last night. His partner dog is a terrier bitch – they have shared a large dog bed since they were puppies together. She always needed to be in contact with him while sleeping. Although she saw him ill I am unsure today wether she knows he is dead or just not come home yet. Should I take the over-large for her on her own bed away ? Will this help her to understand that he`s not coming home or just distress her futher?
Don't underestimate what an animal understands. I had the same problem when my 8 year old german shepard/austrailian shepard died. My dog seemed to know as soon as we came home from the vet. I think they can feel what you feel, and if you have the strong feeling of loss that I'm sure you have (I'm very sorry and I empathize) your dog will feel that and have a general idea. Like all creatures, including humans, it takes a while to set in. My dog moped for six months. It was very sad. Taking the bed away probably would do more harm than good, because if your dog does know, or will soon, seperating her from her connection to her friend might cause her stress. Also, nothing aside from time will eliminate their ability to smell the other dog in the house. I would watch her closely to see what she does and how she copes; if she doesn't seem to want to lay in the bed, it probably upsets her, so I would say get rid of it. If she sleeps in it, I would keep it. I'm so sorry and good luck.
I have a 7 year old german shepherd she weighs about 100lbs. i have been looking for a bed that is comes clean, is washable, durable and wont get all flat. if anyone has a big dog and has found a really great dog bed. let me know what it is. she doesnt like laying on the floor, she tries to lay on a pile of clothes or a pillow if on the floor. i need one big enough for her to lay all the way out. please give me your advice, links etc. Thanks
I have a 1 year old great dane mixed with a bull mastiff and he did the same thing. But we gave him 2 sleeping bags to lay on and hes happy lol. We couldnt find a big bed for him. try blankets she might lay on that. gl
